He did it anyway...

I was dealing with a supposed Biblical contradiction recently. It turned out not to be so much a contradiction as a misunderstanding, but I think it's actually more an intro into the beauty of our Creator.

Genesis 1:31 says that God called His creation good. By Genesis 6:6, He was grieved by sinful man on Earth. Now, it's obvious that these are descriptions of God's feelings at different times. But if God is eternal, infinite and not bound by time, then how can this be explained.

God can experience and interact with time, but is not bound by it. He was well pleased by Hid creation, knew full well what would become of it, but created it anyway. That's what's so beautiful to me. That's the gospel message.

Matthew 13:35 says that His plan was from the foundation of the world. In other words, He knew it would happen and planned accordingly. John 1:3 (speaking of Jesus) specifically says "All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made".

Jesus knew what would be expected of Him if He created man. He knew that it would cost Him His life. He did it anyway. In a very real sense, when Jesus breathed that breath of life into Adam (and into each of us since) He did it knowing that it would be His dying breath.

And He did it anyway.

John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, that someone lays down his life for his friends.

Things did not go awry...

This post fits somewhat with a book I've just started, Darwin's God, by Cornelius Hunter. So far the idea is that Darwin was trying to address the problem of evil, which, of course (so he thought), God would not have allowed. God would have made everything perfectly efficient and beautiful and nice. This comes through loud and clear in many atheist blogs, doesn't it? Truth be told, I have some of this concept mixed in with my beliefs, too. I think this will be a enlightening read.

I've also just begun with a local BSF International bible study and we're studying Matthew this year (33-weeks!). I'm thinking of starting a second blog primarily for Christians where I might be posting some of the study questions that puzzle me. Stay tuned. I'm not finding as much blog-time as I used to, but I'll still be around.

Yah. I think some people

Yah. I think some people sometimes miss the fact that God created this universe with the express plans of redeeming it. He did not make a mistake. He was not surprised. He knew what was coming.

I've been thinking a bit lately about the concept of the "fall" and its current effect on people who try to find God in the Universe. Christian Theism does not believe that the Universe as we see it is a true reflection of God, since this is not how He created it. It makes sense that those who discount the Judeo-Christian explanation would have a skewed view of Him.

Good to see you back, LB.
