How much more does God have to do?

()

I was recently watching a debate between an apologist and an atheist. The atheist seemed to base a lot of his argument on the fact that, if there was a God, it seems He would reveal Himself in a much clearer and more specific manner. The atheist refused to believe in large part due to a lack of proof. Now, my last blog "Science Ex Nihilo" speaks more to the fact of the revelation of God in nature, and the logical proofs inherent in existence. But His general revelation is not the subject of discussion here. The subject in question is specific revelation. Why doesn't God just appear to each and every one of us and say? "Hello son. I'm God. I made you and I deserve your unconditional loyalty."

Maybe He's tired of trying.

He saved the children of Israel from Egypt in a very specific and miraculous manner. He divided the Read Sea and devoured their enemies. And they made a golden calf to worship instead of Him. He dropped food from the sky for them, and they rebelled against Him. God revealed Himself miraculously to Samson through incredible strength, and Samson turned from Him for the company of a Philistine woman. He revealed Himself to Jonah and Jonah had to spend three days in a fish to accept His will. (Not to mentioned that he argued with God about God's will to end the story.) These are just a few accounts off of the top of my head. History is littered with stories of God's revelation and man's refusal. What makes you any different?

Jesus turned water into wine. He walked on water. The Holy Spirit descended on Him as a dove to prove His deity. He healed the blind, lame, dumb and sick. He calmed a storm, fed thousands with leftovers and even raised the dead. They crucified Him for it. Even so, He raised bodily and appeared to hundreds of people to leave a historical account of His actions for us. Then He sent the Spirit to testify to our hearts about Him.

He's still denied. People still want more. Well, I don't think you'll get it. Either accept Him or don't. He's proven Himself more than you, I or anyone else deserves. Take Him at His word and deed, and you'll get to know him. Once you get to know Him, you'll wonder how you ever doubted, and your heart will break in realizing the work He did on your account.

Blessings...
